Allen Richardson is the founder and president of Richardson Housing Group, which has served homebuyers in northeast Atlanta for more than three decades. Recently named chairman of the new Georgia State Licensing Board for residential contractors, Richardson is a member of the Georgia Home Builders Hall of Fame and a life director of the National Home Builders Association.

Allen Richardson, founder and president of Richardson Housing Group, began his career while in college at Southern Polytechnic State University studying architecture. He became involved in various aspects of the housing industry and in 1973, started Richardson Housing Group.

Actively involved in the industry, Richardson is on the board of directors and a past president of the Council for Quality Growth, is past president of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Home Builders Association of Georgia, and serves as a director of the National Association of Home Builders. He was also influential in beginning Builders Insurance and has been the organization’s only chairman. He was recently appointed to Georgia’s State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors and was elected chairman of the residential division. In 2006, he was named to the Lawrenceville Downtown Development Authority.

Richardson is the proud recipient of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s Lewis Cenker Award. He also was honored twice with the Gwinnett County "Builder of the Year" award and in 1998, was inducted into the Georgia Housing Hall of Fame. In 2004, he was named Gwinnett County’s Small Business Person of the Year and in 2006, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue honored Richardson Housing Group as a Georgia Small Business of Excellence.

Richardson Housing Group, family owned and operated, has served homebuyers in north metro Atlanta for three decades and has built more than 2,900 homes.
