Medicine and HD Television on Display in Georgia

This week, one of the country’s leading healthcare organizations is pushing the bounds of medical education by utilizing high-definition television to document advanced cardiovascular surgery techniques here in Georgia.

Macon Cardiovascular Institute and their foundation, MCVI Research Foundation, Inc. have created a medical media conference in Macon, Georgia that rivals any in the world. This three-day event, February 21st thru 23rd brings highly skilled cardiovascular surgeons demonstrating advanced heart surgery techniques to a convention center full of healthcare professionals all while being recorded in High-Definition TV.

This conference is known as CardioVascular Solutions 2007 and is the brainchild of one of the region’s most renowned cardiovascular surgeons, Dr. Randy Brown. Dr. Brown has spearheaded and driven the creation of a conference that showcases the art, technique and science of cardiovascular surgery as well as the latest in HD television technology. An HD television recording has nearly 8 times the optical information of a standard definition television picture and the resulting improvement in detail will greatly aid surgeons as they learn new techniques and procedures.

Cardiovascular Solutions 2007 has gathered together surgeons from the Macon Cardiovascular Institute, healthcare educators from HealthStream, Inc. in Nashville, TN, the television production skills of Bright Blue Sky Productions, also out of Macon, GA., and editorial and animation services from The Lvngrm in Atlanta, GA. Each group is contributing their expertise to produce and distribute the CardioVascular Solutions 2007 Conference itself and to produce ongoing programming from the conference for use in Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs as well as for broadcast on regional and national television networks.

For information on the conference or for passes to attend, please contact Craig Odum, MCVI @ 478-714-6761. Also available are Color & Black/White photos as well as, B-roll video.
