Grant to MedShare International Reflects New Trend in Results Oriented Philanthropy
Local resident supports non-profit MedShare International

When local philanthropist Mike Kendrick decided that he wanted to support the delivery of medical supplies to impoverished countries around the world, he wanted to be sure that the dollars he gave would result in the highest possible return on his investment. To help him determine which company to donate to he turned to his own company, Kingdom Capital Group, for assistance.
Kingdom Capital Group, a philanthropic advisory firm based out of Atlanta, recommended that Kendrick become the lead investor in funding an expansion project focusing on the opening of MedShare Western Region, where operations are set to begin next year. Kendrick knew about MedShare International, a Medical Surplus Recovery Organization (MSRO) based out of Decatur, GA, which ships 40-foot containers of medical supplies and equipment to needy healthcare institutions in economically developing countries. Ultimately, the opening of MedShare Western Region is anticipated to double the amount of people served by MedShare International, many of whom live in the world's poorest regions.
"Kingdom Capital Group's methods allow me to see the results of my donation to MedShare, something that means a lot to me as an investment minded donor," said Kendrick. "I have confidence that my contribution to MedShare's West Coast expansion will result in the improved accessibility of healthcare for people around the world."
MedShare International's CEO and Co-Founder A.B. Short was impressed with Kingdom Capital Group's methods. "Kingdom Capital Group represents a new way for potential philanthropists to make decisions based on good solid business principles," said Short. "The commitment of the company's grant is invaluable to MedShare International, giving us tremendous financial support as we expand our operations outside of Atlanta."
MedShare's West Coast expansion will allow the organization to recover even more surplus medical supplies and equipment, many of which would otherwise go straight to landfills. By accepting donations from hospitals, manufacturers and distributors, MedShare International has saved over 925,000 cubic feet of space in landfills and aided recipients in 95 countries since its inception in 1998. MedShare had a record-breaking week during the third week of December this year, shipping eight 40-foot containers in one week, including three in one day.
