Elite Transportation Offers Atlanta’s First Natural Gas “Eco-Chauffeur”

The Lincoln Town Car NGV makes Elite Green Car even greener

ATLANTA -- March 13, 2008 -- As a true industry leader, Elite Transportation Services Atlanta takes yet another step in the evolution of transportation with the conversion of their Lincoln Town Car fleet to Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV), making their Elite Green Car fleet even greener. With the addition of these Lincoln Town Car NGVs, Elite Transportation is the first in Atlanta and only the second transportation company in the nation to convert sedans to NGVs, presenting customers with the traditional comforts of a black car service with the added benefit of minimizing their carbon footprint.

The Lincoln Town Car NGV operates on natural gas offering the benefit of reduced emissions. Producing 25% less CO2 emissions than conventional fuel, natural gas is the cleanest burning of all hydrocarbon fuels and is abundantly available in North America. While gasoline-fueled vehicles produce evaporative and fueling emissions accounting for at least 50% of a vehicle’s total hydrocarbon emissions, NGVs produce little to no evaporative emissions during fueling and use. In addition, according to NGVAmerica, NGVs reduce the following exhaust emissions:
  • Carbon monoxide by 70%
  • Non-methane organic gas by 87%
  • Nitrogen oxides by 87% below those of gasoline vehicles

With significant reductions in emissions, improved air quality and the added safety benefits of riding in a natural gas vehicle, passengers can breathe a sigh of relief. Since natural gas is lighter than air, it dissipates into the atmosphere instead of pooling on the ground like gasoline. In the event of an accident, natural gas would be safer for the riders and the environment, as opposed to the extreme fire hazard or groundwater contamination potentials of gasoline.

“There are many incentives to driving a Natural Gas Vehicle, but most important is giving our customers the option to choose a safe and healthy ride for their transportation needs,” said Mike Kersten, owner, Elite Transportation. “The near-zero emissions, petroleum displacement, and affordable fuel costs makes the conversion to a natural gas fueled fleet a natural fit for Elite Green Car and Atlanta’s environment.”

The Lincoln Town Car NGVs join Elite Transportation’s existing Elite Green Car fleet of Lexus RX 400 hybrids. While the fuel is different, the amenities and luxuries of an Elite Transportation ride remain the same. Able to accommodate three travelers, the Lincoln Town Car NGVs will be available this month.
