Governor Sonny Perdue to Conduct Elephant Health Check and Ultrasound Today, Wednesday, May 7, 2:30 p.m.Governor and First Lady Serving as Honorary Co-Chairs of 2008 Beastly Feast
WHAT: Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue, a licensed veterinarian, will conduct a health check and ultrasound on Dottie the Elephant at Zoo Atlanta. Dottie is expecting a baby in 2009.
WHEN: Wednesday, May 7, 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: Elephant Habitat on the grounds of Zoo Atlanta, 800 Cherokee Avenue
WHO: In addition to the Governor, Zoo Atlanta President and CEO, Dennis Kelly, as well as the Zoo’s elephant habitat team, will be on hand for questions about the procedure.
WHY: The Governor and First Lady are serving as Honorary Co-Chairs of ‘Wild One Night,’ the 2008 Beastly Feast to benefit Zoo Atlanta, scheduled for Saturday, May 17.
The Beastly Feast supports the Zoo’s mission of education, conservation and great family entertainment and is aiming to raise more than $1 million in a single evening for the l1th year running. Ford Motor Company has been presenting sponsor of the Beastly Feast for 23 years. David Ratcliffe, CEO of Southern Company, and his wife Cecelia, are the Co-Chairs for the event.
