Atlanta Falcons' New Head Coach To Give Insight Into The Upcoming Season |

ANNOUNCEMENT:
WHO
Following the Falcons’ tumultuous 2007 season, former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Smith was named head coach in January 2008. Smith’s selection has helped usher in a new era of leadership and a renewed focus on football fundamentals – stopping the run on defense; running the football and controlling the line of scrimmage on offense. He will talk about his early impressions of free agency, the draft and off-season training as the team readies its battle plan for 2008. Smith spent five years as defensive coordinator of the Jaguars, where he was named to the USA Today All-Joe Team – an award recognizing players and coaches who have overachieved and are often overlooked. Previously, he spent four years with the Baltimore Ravens, assisting them to their Super Bowl championship in 2000. Smith played collegiate ball at East Tennessee (1977-81), where he was named defensive MVP twice at linebacker. As a senior, he led the team with 186 tackles. After college, Smith became a defensive line coach at Morehead State in Kentucky followed by Tennessee Tech. He and his wife Julie have one daughter, Logan.
