Corporate Volunteers To Perform Home Repairs for Low-Income Seniors on Saturday May 10, 2008HouseProud’s Fifth Year of the Atlanta House Party |


ANNOUNCEMENT:
WHAT: The Atlanta House Party presented by The Allstate Foundation, is a one-day home repair bonanza facilitated by the HouseProud program at the Atlanta Community ToolBank. Volunteers from eight companies will provide critical home repairs to low-income seniors in neighborhoods surrounding Turner Field. 2008 is the fifth year of the Atlanta House Party.
WHEN: Saturday, May 10th:
Volunteer orientation begins at 8:00 a.m.
Home repairs are performed from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Post-event and homeowner testimonials begin at 1:30 p.m.
WHERE: Corporate volunteers will start and end the day in Stanton Park in the Peoplestown neighborhood, located behind Mt. Nebo Baptist Church:

Home repairs will take place at eight homes in nearby neighborhoods. A Media Map to the houses where work is to be performed is available.

WHY: The HouseProud program at the ToolBank has delivered no-cost repairs no senior homeowners in five downtown Atlanta neighborhoods since 1991. The Atlanta House Party underscores the achievements of HouseProud, while bringing public attention to the issue of maintaining affordable housing for the exploding senior population.
Funds raised by the Atlanta House Party allow HouseProud staff to deliver high-quality, no-cost home repairs to low-income seniors throughout the entire year. HouseProud will be expanding its service area to include a handful of West End neighborhoods in the second half of 2008. The Allstate Foundation has been presenting sponsor of the Atlanta House Party for 5 years.
