The Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts — Recruiting Youth for its 2008 Atlanta Leadership & Arts Camp Dance, Acting, Vocals, Business, Conflict Resolution, Literacy, & ResponsibilityThe Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts is holding interview sessions for its 10th Annual Atlanta Leadership & Arts Camp on Friday, May 16, 2008 4p and Saturday, May 17, 2008 12p. Youth ages 7-18 that are interested in attending the Annual Leadership and Arts Camp should come out to the open interviews and auditions. Celebrities such as Jasmine Guy, Ashanti, Lou Gossett, Vivica Fox, Marshal Mathers (Eminem), T.I., Tyrese, Chocolate, Mike Epps and many others have worked with the Foundation on projects that benefit students at the Foundation. The Leadership & Arts Camp Students receive instruction in acting, creative writing, dance, vocal training, set and stage design, video production and the business of entertainment. The camp also stresses literacy, responsibility, and conflict resolution. The camp experience comes to a dramatic climax with a full theatrical production at the end of the Camp session.
Many of the Camp Alumni (PAC’s Kids) have gone on to appear in television shows, movies and concerts such as Alvin Ailey Dance, Good Day Atlanta, VH-1 Save the Music, Mary J. Blige tour and more. Afeni Shakur, the mother of the multi-talented Tupac Shakur, established the program in 1999 to give young people quality arts training.
