WHAT:

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, INC., Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter (NCBW 100 -MAC) and General Motors, will host its Ninth Annual Celebrity “Tee Off for Teens” Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the organization’s Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition assistance to young women. The Coalition has awarded more than 220 scholarships totaling $425,000 to young women.

OTHER INFORMATION:

The tournament attracts some of the most prominent business professionals, civic leaders, and local TV and radio personalities. A key feature of the event is the Golf Clinic, which provides the opportunity for newcomers to get pointers on the game while the novice can brush up on their skills. The tournament also features live and silent auctions of premium items, such as airline tickets, and sports memorabilia. Hole in One wins a new 2008 GM Cadillac CTS. Last year for the first time in the eight year history of the tournament, a hole in one was achieved. The winner of the hole in one prize, a 2007 GM Denali, was Danny Simmons of the Atlanta Journal & Constitution.

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women is an advocacy organization built to empower African-American women through greater access to education, political strength, business opportunities and civic responsibility. The organization’s mission to empower women fills a great need in the lives of African-American women and youth. The organization’s programs evolve around three core areas: Education (Scholarship and Teen Mentoring), Health (HIV/Aids Awareness), and Economic Development (Adopt-A-Shelter). Cynthia Williams is president of the Coalition of 100 Black Women Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter.
