Premiere Golf Charity to be Held Oct. 6 at Bear's Best in Duluth, Ga

social-print
Agile announced today the celebration of its 5th year anniversary of Agile on the Green (AOTG), the Atlanta technology community's premiere golf charity. The tournament will be held on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Bear's Best in Duluth, Ga., and will include an 18-hole scramble format followed by a cocktail hour and dinner and awards reception. Net proceeds from the event benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate.

Agile, a Gold Sponsor for the 2008 Race for the Cure, has raised more than $90,000 in proceeds over the last four years through AOTG and the Race for the Cure, and has announced its goal of raising more than $75,000 in net proceeds in 2008.

"This year marks my fifth year as a breast cancer survivor, a significant milestone for any cancer survivor, as well as the fifth year of Agile on the Green," says AOTG Founder Tricia Dempsey, CEO of Agile. "This event is my personal passion and has been embraced and supported by so many local technology executives and corporations. I am indebted to each one of our sponsors for helping make a difference in the lives of women like me, who have been touched by this disease."

Breast cancer is the leading cancer among American women and is second only to lung cancer in cancer deaths. This year in the United States, 250,230 women and 1,990 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,480 women and 450 men will die from the disease. A surprising number of these victims will be women in their 30's.

The event invites technology executives to play as VIP guests from local companies such as Bank of America, Cox Enterprises, McKesson Corporation and AT&T and sells sponsorship opportunities to play with these VIP's in an 18-hole scramble format. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as a variety of contests during the day. In addition, local companies and individuals donate "Super Ticket" prizes such as vacation packages, event tickets and sport event memorabilia to be raffled off at the event.

Participants can register in one of four categories of sponsorship ranging from $500 for individuals up to $15,000 for a four-player team. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please visit: www.agileonthegreen.com.

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate serves as a local resource for those seeking opportunities for screening, treatment and support. Through annual events, including the Race for the Cure, Komen Atlanta raises funds to support breast cancer outreach projects and programs.

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
