ATLANTA – November 11, 2008
– From the sands of Egypt to the heart of Atlanta, Georgians are in for a rare thrill on
November 14th.
Channel 2, WSB-TV traveled to Egypt to explore the ancient tombs and treasures of King Tutankhamun and the great pharaohs. Jovita Moore, Channel 2 Action News anchor, journeyed to the Valley of the Kings with one of the world’s top experts on King Tut, Dr. Zahi Hawass, to show you sites tourists never see. Once there, our cameras captured the most treasured tombs, mummies, and artifacts of the boy king and other great rulers of the day.
“As I walked deep into the ancient tombs, I felt I was walking back 3000 years in time,” said Moore. “We thought it was very important to travel to Egypt and bring back the stories and pictures for Georgians to see. It gives our viewers a better perspective on this historic exhibit.”
The rare exhibit of ancient artifacts makes its North American debut at the Atlanta Civic Center on November 15th, thanks to the work of Emory University’s Carlos Museum. The one hour special will give Channel 2 viewers a first glimpse of what Georgians will see. It’s a visual tour of one of history’s greatest mysteries, the magic surrounding the life and death of the great pharaohs.
