Chinese New Year Spectacular Returns for Holidays

Chinese New Year Spectacular has become a family favorite, drawing crowds of all ages and rave reviews

social-print
East meets west this holiday season as the world's premiere Chinese dance and music company presents the 3rd Annual Chinese New Year Spectacular December 19-20, 2008 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Complementing such holiday traditions as the Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker and the Alliance Theatre's A Christmas Carol, Chinese New Year Spectacular has quickly become a family favorite, drawing crowds of all ages and rave reviews since its Atlanta debut in 2007.

"Atlanta has truly embraced us," said Alex Wang, director of New Times Culture and Education Center, the official host of this year's Spectacular. "Because of this city's amazing support, Spectacular has become one of the most highly sought after and anticipated shows of the season."

Inspired by the spirit of ancient Chinese culture, the program features nearly 20 dances and songs ranging from grand classical processions to ethnic and folk dances, accented by gorgeously costumed dancers and spectacular backdrops.

The elite company of dancers, singers and musicians illuminates classical Chinese dance and music in a colorful and exhilarating show, offering audiences a rare, yet captivating experience.

Each season the New York-based company tours as many as twenty countries around the world. Atlanta is one of the first stops on the 2009 world tour.

Cobb Energy Centre will host three performances of the show: 7:30 p.m., Friday, December 19; 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20; and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 20. Tickets are available at any participating Ticketmaster location or by calling 404-249-6400 or at the Bank of North Georgia Box Office at the Cobb Energy Centre box office located at 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30339.
