Ruth Mitcham Named PRSA|GA April Chapter Champion

social-print
Ruth Mitcham, account manager at communications 21, has been awarded the Georgia Chapter's Chapter Champion award in recognition of her longstanding volunteer work.

Mitcham was presented with her certificate and an inscribed pen at the Chapter's monthly meeting on April 2.

The Chapter Champion award was created to recognize a member who has significantly contributed to the Chapter's success. It is given monthly or when appropriate.

Mitcham graduated magna cum laude from Berry College with a degree in public relations.

She plans and executes marketing strategies, media relations, consumer relations and online marketing initiatives for clients in a wide variety of industries including food and beverage, technology, professional services and nonprofit.

Mitcham recently served as the chair of the development team for this year's Real World PR collegiate conference, her second successful year leading the event's fundraising efforts. In 2008, she supported the chapter's Awards Celebration as a member of the Silent Auction committee in addition to her work with Real World PR.

She also serves as the co-chair of the membership committee for Club Blue, a social networking group for young professionals that drives awareness and raises funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta.

As a result of this type of volunteerism, the Georgia Chapter ranks as the No. 2 Chapter in the nation and has been recognized for its best membership practices among PRSA Chapters across the country.

PRSA|GA (www.prsageorgia.org), the second-largest local chapter in the national society, consists of nearly 1,000 professionals throughout Georgia. Its mission is to enhance the profession, provide continuing education and offer networking opportunities for its members.

The Chapter has monthly meetings as well as nine Special Interest Groups (Employee Communications, Government/Military Affairs, Healthcare, Independent Counselors, Leader Board, Nonprofit, Technology, Travel & Tourism, and Young Professionals) that meet at various times.

The Chapter supports six PRSSA (student society) groups at these colleges: Clark Atlanta University, Georgia College & State University, Georgia State University, Georgia Southern University, Kennesaw State University and University of Georgia.
