Sutton Mill: Summer Get-Away in Georgia Mountains

Charming vacation rentals in Sautee-Nacoochee Valley

Less than 75 minutes north of Atlanta, located on more than fifty acres of bucolic pastures and woods but not far from the charming village of Clarkesville, Sutton Mill is the perfect mountain get-away.

The delightful vacation rental facilities at Sutton Mill, a restored 1890s gristmill surrounded by charming guesthouses, include the Sutton Mill House, the Miller’s Cottage and the Barn House (www.suttonmill.com). The Sutton Mill House, perfect for a larger family or a special group of friends, includes three suites with four separate bedrooms, a sweeping open floor plan and extensive outdoor terraces and porches. The nearby guesthouses make great for a romantic long weekend or a summer break ‘far from the maddening crowd.’

“There’s not another property like it within a two hour drive of Atlanta” observes Jay Massey, who restored the Mill and outfitted it, working with the renowned Orlando-based interior designer Pam Skinner. “Sutton Mill’s park-like setting has been the backdrop for several amazing weddings and dinner parties this year. But most of our guests come to just get away, and are delighted to find that our great guest facilities are available for rent at quite reasonable rates,” notes the youthful owner.

During the summer season, rates for The Miller’s Cabin, a one bedroom guesthouse, start at $195 per night, while rates for renting The Sutton House start at $675 per night. All rates are based on a two-night minimum. See www.suttonmill.com/accomodations.html for all details.

Weekend activities in the surrounding area include rafting, hiking, fly-fishing on the nationally known Soque River, and a whole array of water activities at nearby Lake Rabun and Lake Burton. Sutton Mill is located three miles north of Clarkesville, Georgia in the mystical Sautee-Nacoochee Valley, home to holistic healers and a vibrant artist community.
