The Cottages at Smithgall Woods Offers New Rates, Summer Discounts at Georgia’s Premier Mountain Getaway

Create your own mid-summer night’s dream at Smithgall Woods in Helen, Georgia. This summer, the cottages at Smithgall Woods are offering a special beat-the-heat discount of 20% in July and August on newly lowered rates. The discounted rate is even available for weekend rentals. With a range of accommodations from one-bedroom to five-bedrooms and rates starting as low as $122 per night with the summer discount, the cottages provide an affordable getaway for two, an unforgettable family vacation, a dream wedding and reception, or a perfect location for a larger group getaway.

A short drive from Atlanta brings guests to the 5,600-acre state park, nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Unique in its setting, Smithgall Woods provides a secluded and tranquil setting guaranteed to refresh and invigorate anyone looking for a different mountain experience surrounded by cool, lush mountain vistas and pristine trout streams.

All five of the cottages are well-equipped with personal kitchens, modern conveniences, fireplaces or wood stoves, and spacious decks. Some of the cottages directly overlook Dukes Creek, creating a soothing morning start or evening retreat from your own private deck. The five cottages range in size from one-bedroom cottages with private decks and hot tubs to the larger cottages that offer four- and five-bedroom spacious mountain accommodations. With a maximum capacity of 28 overnight guests, the cottages at Smithgall Woods ensure an affordable, quiet, and restful retreat.

Within its lush borders, Smithgall Woods provides plenty of recreational activities for visitors. Dukes Creek, which some of the cottages are nestled around, was named one of the “Top 100 Trout Streams in the U.S.” by Trout Unlimited. As a catch-and-release stream, excellent fishing is available year round and equipment is available by loan while at the state park. In addition to year-round trout fishing, visitors will find beautiful hiking paths, gravel mountain biking trails and distinctive native plants, flowers and wildlife. And while all cottages include a private kitchen, Smithgall Woods’ location provides nearby access to local north Georgia wineries or distinguished dining for short day trips or an afternoon excursion.

Summer rates at Smithgall Woods, not including the 20% discount offered in July and August, range from $135 - $499 depending on the cottage and size of accommodations. For more information on Smithgall Woods, including its meeting facilities or to make reservations for cottages, please call 1 (706) 878-3087 or go online to www.GaStateParks.org/Info/Smithgall.
