Remediation Group, Inc., the professional mold remediation company with offices in Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami will celebrate the holidays this year by giving back to the victims of the recent Atlanta floods. “In view of the devastating losses suffered by so many residents and small business owners in greater Atlanta, we decided that our holiday party will be the perfect opportunity to raise funds for the Disaster Relief Fund of United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta,” says Fred Rodriguez, owner of Remediation Group. “We are sure that many of our customers, vendors, friends and business associates will be happy to join us for this event that will combine good cheer, great food and music – plus a special silent auction to raise money for a cause that is, obviously, near and dear to my heart.”
Remediation Group’s holiday event will take place on Thursday, December 3 at Village Place Brookhaven, the live-work community on Dresden Drive. ‘Cue Barbecue will donate upscale barbeque and splendid side dishes; there will be lots of refreshments, and a DJ will be spinning music. “But the highlight of the evening will be our silent auction where we raise funds for Atlanta’s flood victims. We have been collecting donations from many different companies who all want to help improve the lives of the flood victims. On December 3rd, we hope that our guests will come to enjoy a great holiday party…and that they will bring their checkbooks so that they too can contribute to this great cause!” For details, see: http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e2mol3ta0f706626
Due to torrential rains in September, followed by more rain as remnants of Hurricane Ida passed through Georgia in November, multiple rivers reached their flood stage, in particular the Yellow River, Peachtree Creek and the Chattahoochee River. Georgia’s flooding was called epic by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
“Right now, our technicians encounter families every day whose homes have been severely damaged or even declared a total loss. Beyond offering our professional services throughout the area, we want to show the Atlanta flood victims that we care – and that’s why we are hosting this holiday fundraiser,” says Rodriguez, who has committed to double the proceeds of the silent auction benefiting United Way’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Remediation Group is one of the first companies called by homeowners who have been affected by the rains. Explains Rodriguez: “Especially now, following the recent flooding of many Atlanta neighborhoods, there are a lot of homes and commercial properties that run a high risk of mold infestation. I recommend that owners have their properties visibly assessed and tested for elevated mold levels. Then, if the property tests ‘clear,’ the owner should require a ‘clearance letter’ on the property, which ultimately will satisfy most lenders and buyers when the property owner decides to sell.”
Mold caused by water damage and high humidity can bring about mold related illnesses, including allergies and other respiratory ailments. In addition to being a proven health hazard, mold diminishes property values and creates maintenance nightmares.
The money raised through the Disaster Relief Fund will go to support families with home repair, relocation expenses such as rental and utility deposits, household furnishing and medical supplies, among other things.
