WHAT: Neighborhood Union Health Center Clients in Vine City will learn how to adopt healthy nutrition practices without sacrificing taste by using fresh vegetables and herbs during a holiday community event at the Center. Additionally, they will learn how to stretch their food dollars while eating for good health.
WHO: Health & Wellness Community Partner Yafah Asiel, President and CEO of Divine Universal Sisterhood will provide tips and demonstrate how to provide healthy but tasty meals using fresh vegetables and garden herbs. Additionally, Health and Wellness Nutrition Educator Michelle Broussard will advise participants on how to budget their food expenses effectively.
WHEN: Tuesday, December 22, 2009
10 am – 1 pm: Registration starts at 10 a.m. The Healthy Cooking Class begins at 10:30 a.m., and Stretching Your Food Dollar begins at 11:45 a.m. Each class will last for one hour.

WHY: The community education program is the result of a successful partnership between Fulton County Health and Human Services, Morehouse School of Medicine, and community partners. The partnership strengthens the County’s opportunity to address health disparities by promoting prevention and intervention wherever possible to reduce treatment costs and improve health outcomes.
Located in historic Vine City, the Neighborhood Union Health Center is a multi-discipline one-stop-shop health center bringing together Fulton County Health and Human Services and the Morehouse School of Medicine. In addition to health care services such as immunizations, family planning, WIC and dental, the center also provides mental health and substance abuse counseling, career counseling and training and primary medical care services.
