The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE)
Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization will be hosting the 11th Annual DOE Small Business Conference & Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, on May 10-12, 2010.
For eleven years DOE hosts this event to assist and educate small businesses on how to do business with this federal agency. The conference will feature general sessions, educational workshops, a large exhibit hall with 200+ exhibitors/sponsors, and matchmaking sessions. Over 1,600 attendees will represent all levels of the federal procurement community, small businesses, prime contractors, and government agencies.
DOE is committed to increasing the contracting opportunities awarded to small and disadvantaged businesses. The largest civilian contracting agency within the Federal government, DOE spent over $30 billion in contracts in FY 2009. The 11th Annual DOE Small Business Conference & Expo is a great opportunity for Small Business owners and large companies alike to network and partner.
“Small Business is a key factor in our Nation fulfilling its potential,” states Joe Garcia Director, Office of Economic Impact and Diversity, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, DOE. “We hope all attendees gain something from this conference to help us move close to achieving DOE’s mission”.
The sessions will cover a variety of subjects, such as proposal writing, how to do business with DOE, and teaming. Expert speakers will discuss the issues and challenges that small business face when doing business in the public sector.
For companies and research institutions looking to market themselves to the government, the conference will feature a large Exhibit Hall. Government purchasing officials, subcontracting specialists, and prime contractors, will be eager to find small businesses capable of delivering the products and services they need.
There will be a full day of business matchmaking sessions, face to face meetings that are invaluable in forging alliances between small businesses and government agencies, prime contractors, institutions, and large businesses. Each matchmaking session may open up endless opportunities by providing small business owners with exposure to potential procurement officials.
