Meet Georgia’a New Speaker of the House at The Atlanta Press Club

David Ralston (R) from Blue Ridge, is regarded by both parties as a behind-the-scenes leader. Ralston was elected as House Speaker for the 2010 session. Ralston’s highly effective and bi-partisan nature has been noted by political reporters. He is quickly making a reputation as a straightforward legislator with a pledge to foster an economic turnaround for a challenging year under the Gold Dome. Ralston, born in Ellijay, was educated in Georgia, earning his Bachelor’s Degree at North Georgia College and State University and a Law Degree at University of Georgia Law School. He began his career as a politician in 1992 when he was elected Georgia State Senator representing District 51.
