Melanie Harrington Hands Presidency of the American Institute for Managing Diversity, Inc. to New Leader
On March 15, 2010, Pamela W. Arnold will become the American Institute for Managing Diversity's 6th president. Melanie joins AIMD's Board of Trustees, the Advisory Council and its founder, Dr. R. Roosevelt Thomas, Jr., in welcoming Arnold to her new role. AIMD's leadership has been working on this succession plan for the last 10 months and looks forward to Arnold's unique approach and vision for the organization. Arnold brings 30 years of Fortune 500 corporate experience, and an invaluable passion for the nonprofit sector. Additionally, Arnold is a long-time diversity champion. She spent 5 years on the AIMD Board of Trustees and is a proud Diversity Leadership Academy alumna. To honor and recognize the legacy of Harrington's work with AIMD, the organization is launching a legacy fund in Harrington's name to support and fund AIMD's Doctoral Internship Program. The program works with doctoral students who are studying diversity management and provides an opportunity for tomorrows leading diversity experts to understand the front line diversity practitioner needs. The interns support AIMD's new Diversity Management Clearinghouse, a site that provides AIMD's constituents with information about recent and cutting edge diversity research and practices.
