The Ellis Hotel is Green in More Ways than One this St. Patrick's Day!
Looking for a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow? Try your luck this St. Patrick's Day at Terrace on Peachtree at The Ellis Hotel, Downtown Atlanta's newest chic boutique hotel. On Sat., March 13, 2010, during the St. Patrick's Day parade, Terrace offers special luck-of-the-Irish stew and "save-greenbacks" drink specials. Then on Wed., March 17, 2010, Terrace presents a $30 per person menu from Atlanta's only farm-to-table Irish chef, Thomas McKeown. From 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., patrons enjoy a three-course meal of authentic Irish choices (no leprechaun tricks at Terrace). Guests of The Ellis Hotel enjoy rates of 30 percent off Best Available Rate during this St. Patrick's Day time. Born and raised in Ireland, McKeown brings an Irish perspective to his culinary approach. For starters, guests choose from Potato & Leek Soup and Seared Smoke Salmon with Baby Argula and Horseradish Cream then enjoy choice of Irish Boiled Bacon and Cabbage, Boxty pancakes, Carrot and Parsnip mash or Guinness Beef Stew made with slow cooked beef, Guinness broth, carrots, onions, celery and potatoes served with Irish soda bread. The meal is topped-off with choice of White Chocolate and Baileys Bread Pudding, Vanilla Ice cream or Jameson's Irish whiskey Trifle.
During the March 13 St. Patrick's Day Parade, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Terrace on Peachtree presents its Guinness Beef Stew for $10 per person as well, four-dollar Harp, Guinness and Irish Coffees. (Quite the lucky shamrock find!)
Terrace is striving to raise awareness for a more local and sustainable food culture while working to re-establish a vibrant sense of community through good food…"Farm-to-Table." Awarded with the Silver level by the Green Seal Environmental Standard for Lodging Properties (the second hotel in the state of Georgia), The Ellis Hotel and Terrace practice consistent sustainability. To reinforce this commitment, hotel ownership hired Michel Nischan (restaurant owner, award-winning cookbook author and media personality to food policy activist and non-profit foundation CEO) to consult with The Ellis Hotel on the re-conception of Terrace.
Recently honored with Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) Exceptional Merit Award for Historic Preservation, Atlanta's Downtown Design Excellence award and Atlanta's Urban Design Commission Award for historic preservation, 2008, The Ellis Hotel exudes a perfect blend of southeast sophistication and charm.
