CEFGA Advocates For Careers In Construction With 6th Annual CareerExpo In Atlanta, Starting Today Through March 12
USGBC-GA Chapter Sponsors CEFGA Expo and SkillsUSA State Championships
The 6th Annual CareerExpo, hosted by the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA), is designed for middle school, high school and college students interested in learning about careers in the construction industry. Companies such as Georgia Power, Southern Company, Holder Construction Company and non-profit organizations like the USGBC-Georgia Chapter will provide students a chance to learn about different career opportunities in the industry, participate in hands-on training through 19 interactive "worlds" and talk directly with industry professionals. SkillsUSA: The SkillsUSA State Championship includes 300 students from Georgia's high schools and technical colleges competing in 27 different skills contests ranging from carpentry and plumbing to architectural drawing and design to construction recycling. Sponsored by the USGBC-Georgia Chapter, the ultimate prize is a state gold medal and the opportunity to represent Georgia at the SkillsUSA National Championships in June.
DETAILS: The Career Expo and SkillsUSA State Championship will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, starting today from 8a.m. to 4p.m. and on Friday, March 12 from 8a.m. to 1p.m. The SkillsUSA State Championship will take place on Friday from 8:45a.m. to 3p.m. The expo is open to middle, High school and college students, educators and parents.
