ATLANTA, March 11, 2010 -- Domestic violence doesn't stay at home - it can strike at work. Partnership Against Domestic Violence presents its ninth annual When Domestic Violence Goes to Work training. This event educates the corporate and business community on practices and policies to protect their employees and profits from intimate partner violence.

Who should attend?

  • Human resource professionals
  • Security directors
  • Managers
  • Legal counsel
  • Employee assistance professionals
  • Chief operating officers

Why:

  • Domestic violence is negatively impacting businesses' bottom line. Businesses lose approximately $5 billion a year due to increased health care costs, increased absenteeism, and decreased productivity associated with domestic violence.
  • Juries award an average of $1.2 million nationwide in inadequate security lawsuits. In this economy, a lawsuit of that magnitude would force many companies to close their doors.
  • Homicide is the second leading cause of death for women in the workplace. Some recent examples include the shooting of Raven Buckley outside Midtown's Bank of America Plaza by a man she formerly dated. In another high-profile case, an Omni Hotel employee was killed by her ex-boyfriend at the CNN Center in Atlanta.

When/Where: April 29, 2010, 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m./ Loudermilk Center, 40 Courtland Street, Atlanta

Keynote Speaker: Bruce T. Blythe, CEO of Crisis Management International Inc.

Hosted By: Partnership Against Domestic Violence, ASIS International & SHRM Atlanta

Cost: Early-bird registration for-profit businesses is $195; $170 for ASIS International and SHRM Atlanta members and $45 for nonprofit and government sectors.
