Soleil Laurel Canyon Ranked Third in Top Retirement Communities

Soleil Laurel Canyon is number three on the Atlanta Business Chronicle's List of Top Retirement Communities, which was released February 12, 2010. Soleil, a 55+ active adult, resort-style community, is located in the North Georgia mountains near Canton.

Rankings for the Top Retirement Communities were determined by the total number of residents. Soleil, with 248 homes, has 470 residents, and will have 730 homes at completion. The number of residents at the 25 different communities on the list range from 150 to 1000.

Soleil, which opened in 2005 and is being developed by Active Lifestyle Communities (ALC), has seen steady growth that continues even in these challenging economic times. In the past eight months, nine homes have closed and an additional 10 are currently under contract. . Soleil recently added a new floor plan to meet consumer demand, and ALC will be announcing a further expansion into the second phase this spring.

"I'm not surprised that Soleil is near the top on the Business Chronicle's list of Top Retirement Communities," says Evan Cramer, Development Manager for Active Lifestyle Communities. "The response has been, and continues to be, extremely positive. All signs point to a successful spring selling season."

While Soleil is a retirement community restricted to those 55+ in age, residents live independently in homes that range from 1,500 to almost 3,000 square feet and are priced between $200,000 and the high $400,000s. Yard maintenance, a 24-hour staffed security gatehouse, and home security monitoring are included in the association fees. This environment, which also includes a clubhouse with heated indoor saline pool, billiards parlor, gourmet teaching kitchen, fitness center and aerobics studio, library, two card rooms and an arts and crafts studio, is why Cramer says Soleil is truly one of Atlanta's best retirement communities.
