The Scott Rigsby Foundation Partners with Jackson Healthcare to Support Wounded Warriors
May 1, 2010 Alpharetta 23 mile/46mile Cycling Event to benefit returning soldiers with loss of limb or mobility

ATLANTA, April 29, 2010 — The Scott Rigsby Foundation and Jackson Healthcare have teamed up for the first annual Alliance Ride, a 23 and 46-mile cycling event to raise funds to support our wounded soldiers as they rehabilitate from injuries received in the Global War on Terror. The May 1, 2010 event will fund the first-ever Wounded Warrior Transition Camp hosted by Camp Twin Lakes in Georgia.
On October 13, 2007, after nearly 17 grueling hours, double- amputee Scott Rigsby did the unthinkable: he crossed the finish line at the 140.6-mile Ford Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, setting a world record as the first to finish the Hawaiian Ironman with prosthetics. As if that wasn’t enough to inspire people around the world, Rigsby formed The Scott Rigsby Foundation to help the physically challenged “Do the Unthinkable” in their own lives.
“ We believe in the mission of the Scott Rigsby Foundation,” said Shane Jackson, Executive Vice President of Jackson Healthcare, “and encourage all Georgia residents and military veterans to join us in helping raise funds and awareness for individuals facing life-changing mobility challenges.”
The number of soldiers returning from the Global War on Terror with loss of limb or mobility has risen above 1,200, the largest in American history, and the suicide rates amongst those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are increasing annually at alarming rates. Wounded soldiers that have suffered loss of limb or mobility, and traumatic brain injury, require specialized resources and mentorship. For many, reintegration into an active and healthy lifestyle at home is a significant challenge. The Alliance Ride is one of several fundraising activities that the partnership seeks to advocate together to support these returning heroes.
The Alpharetta cycling event will take place on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 7:30am. The cycling route begins at Jackson Healthcare’s corporate headquarters, 2655 Northwinds Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30009 and follows a police-managed course through Alpharetta. Registration is $25-$30 and may be completed online at www.allianceride.com or at the event the day of the race.
Now in its second year, The Scott Rigsby Foundation recruits and inspires people of all ages and fitness levels as they train to perform in distance events – primarily running, cycling, and triathlons – to raise funds for advancements in prosthetics technology and research, enable our injured soldiers, support World Vision programs that assist children with disabilities in developing countries, and increase resources for all physically challenged people to achieve their goals.
