To Move to the Next Level, Tap the Strength Within

WOW! transformations' beyondboarding™ helps company create a culture that attracts top talent

social-print
When the leadership at Solvay Pharmaceuticals wanted to move the company to the next level in the competitive healthcare industry, they tapped the strength within.

Organizational change would be driven from the inside, fueled by programs that firmly connected employees to the success of the business.

Now a part of the global healthcare company, Abbott, Solvay worked with WOW! transformations to reinvent its orientation, training and development into an approach WOW! transformations now calls beyondboarding™.

"WOW! was an integral member of our team from concept through roll-out, and brought forth creative and innovative ideas," said Kathy Notarantonio, a Human Resources manager with Solvay.

The process of beyondboarding™ goes beyond orientation or onboarding and takes a strategic approach to employee and organizational growth and development. It gives employees a sense of ownership and belonging that results in improved job satisfaction, pride in their work, and consequently, increased customer satisfaction and company growth.

Considered a mid-size pharmaceuticals company, Solvay's leadership knew the company needed to go deep in employee training and development to compete with larger companies. The culture needed to be one that was truly employee-driven, laying the foundation to become a company where top talent wanted to work.

At Solvay, the beyondboarding™ approach replaced the company's traditional approach of employee orientation "dog and pony shows" with an innovative plan that started the day an employee was hired. WOW! transformations worked with a Solvay team to create a unified program that captured the unique elements of working for a global healthcare company.

Solvay's enhanced approach included:

  • A web portal for new hires that provides information about the company, its departments and structure.
  • "Solvay Launch," a half-day interactive new hire workshop that includes:
    • Information about The Solvay Group — who they are, what they do
    • Details about the pharmaceutical industry and the R&D process
    • An Innovation discussion and exercise
    • Discussion and exercises around career development, employee training, expatriate opportunities and the organization's focus on charitable giving
  • A peer sponsorship program that helps employees to connect to each other.
  • Launch lunches - opportunities for new hires to meet quarterly with their "start groups" to share information, meet the executives and reconnect

Companies that integrate beyondboarding™ into their culture realize:

  • Reduced employee turnover
  • Engaged leadership
  • Higher levels of employee satisfaction
  • An environment focused on learning and development
  • Attraction of a highly qualified talent pool that is eager to join your organization

Solvay recognized the need for change. WOW! transformations helped make this change a reality.
