Former British Royal Marine Commando to hold Situational Awareness Rally for Women in Atlanta

Terry Vaughan, a former British Commando turned women’s edutainment speaker will host a situational awareness rallies called “Living in the Yellow” for more than 1,500 women on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel. The rally will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.
The event, in partnership with Dang Chicks, an Atlanta-based women’s apparel company, is designed to teach woman about making strong conscientious decisions relating to personal safety skills and learning how to deal with the stress that surrounds it. The cost to attend is $55 for a single ticket or $95 for a ticket and t-shirt specifically designed by Dang Chicks for this event.
“Your safety isn’t funny, but that doesn't mean you can’t have fun learning how to live a more empowered life,” said Vaughan. “These rallies are about minimizing fear and maximizing individual effectiveness when it comes to tuning into your surroundings.”
Capitalizing on his extensive background of humorous and embarrassing stories both in and out of the military; Vaughan ensures that every woman that attends one of his rallies recognizes that all aspects of life can be fun if utilized with the right attitude and situational awareness.
As a former elite British Royal Marine Commando and BBC television presenter, Vaughan now employs his military experience with an energetic presentation style that creates an unforgettable and empowering event for women of all ages.
“Women who develop strong situational awareness skills not only keep themselves safe, but also by extension, their friends and family,” said Vaughan. “As Commandos, we were trained to distinguish between the relevant nuances, and the not so relevant ones, in every environment we operated in. After getting married and starting a family of my own, I discovered how much of this information was relevant for my wife and our three kids.”
After learning Vaughan’s message, Dang Chicks C.E.O., Stephanie O’Connor realized it closely matched the mission of her apparel company and was inspired to design a new shirt for attendees called Dang Strong.
“We wanted to create something that reminded women that they have a choice to be empowered rather than being a prisoner to their surroundings,” said O’Connor. “We hope this shirt, in some small way, helps more women hear this important message.”
