Democrat Joe Martin Stands Up for Georgia Schools on Student/Teacher Furlough Day
Campaign Kickoff on September 3rd Emphasizes Candidate's Dedication to Schools

DeKalb County schools are closed tomorrow, Friday, September 3rd, for a teacher and student furlough day. Georgia State School Superintendent candidate Joe Martin is concerned about furlough days because he believes furlough days are hurting Georgia’s children, educators and families.
At 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 3rd, in front of DeKalb County’s Druid Hills High School, Joe Martin will be available to talk to parents, teachers and students about the impact of furlough days on them personally and on our communities.
“The school funding crisis in Georgia is so serious that now the number of student learning days in many school districts is dropping below the state target of 180,” Martin said. “Furlough days are preventing children from learning and educators from teaching and are forcing families to bear the brunt of decisions made by our state government. I am committed to putting our children and teachers back in the classroom.”
