LOCUST GROVE, Ga. (Sept. 7, 2010) -- Authentic Pine Floors will feature its newest product line of wide plank floors, roll out its newly redesigned web site, and introduce its new spokesperson at the 2010 Fall Atlanta Home Show, which will be held Sept. 24-26 at Atlanta’s Cobb Galleria Center.

The Atlanta Home Show is a national leader in showcasing home improvement companies and ideas. It features the latest home services and products, along with experts offering advice about home remodeling and repair, gardening and landscaping, energy savings, cooking, decorating, outdoor living and more.

The story of Authentic Pine Floors blends together several elements: the visual beauty of masterfully-crafted wood floors; the wood itself, often reclaimed from old warehouses and barns; and the passion and dedication of the McMurry family of Locust Grove, Georgia, who founded the company 35 years ago and still operate the business today.

Old Dirty Goat, its newest product line, is a long-awaited custom-finished floor that will transform any home or business with its hand-finished wide planks that are carefully crafted from reclaimed heart pine wood. Seeking only the best available wood for Old Dirty Goat, Authentic Pine Floors selects structural timbers from old commercial buildings – such as tobacco barns, distilleries, warehouses and textile mills – that have retained their strength and beauty over time. Authentic Pine Floors brings the timbers back to its mill in Locust Grove, Georgia, where they are cut, trimmed and kilned to customer specifications, and the Old Dirty Goat brand comes to life.

The Authentic Pine Floors web site www.authenticpinefloors.com has been refabricated to include more detailed product information, beautiful visuals, dozens of customer areas that offer tips on finding and caring for wood floors, testimonials, company history and more. Authentic Pine Floors also has introduced itself on Facebook www.facebook.com/woodfloors and posts additional design and flooring ideas for customers and fans.

And, much to the delight of customers and friends, Authentic Pine Floors has introduced a new company spokesperson. Actually, a new company spokes animal: Goat.

“Goat is smart, curious and versatile. But he’s also adventurous and is willing to do what it takes when it comes to pleasing his friends and family,” said Zack McMurry, the president of Authentic Pine Floors and the brains behind Goat’s creation and development. “Like his fellow goats, he tends to be a very loyal companion. We believe his personality really fits well with Authentic Pine Floors and our own commitment to our craftsmanship and our customers.”

Goat will help Authentic Pine Floors tells its story to customers and friends, combining important news about the company with his own “observations” about life and living in Locust Grove and elsewhere. “We are encouraging Goat to talk and tell us what he thinks about things. And we also hope he will help to educate people about the beauty and appeal of wide plank floors, where they come from, and the countless ways they can be used in a home or business,” said Zack.

The local inspiration for Goat was, not surprisingly, a goat. Specifically, a myotonic goat, more commonly known as a “fainting goat.” The Lee Dream Farm in Locust Grove keeps several of the breed, and Zack saw a natural correlation between the goats on the farm and his company’s new line of wide plank floor products.

“Our Old Dirty Goat floors are custom, hand-finished products that truly reveal the reclaimed heart pine from which they are made. These floors have a strong character that is enhanced by their earthiness and integrity,” said Zack, who has been involved with Authentic Pine Floors since he was a boy and worked his way through college installing the company’s floors.

Today, Zack and his colleagues search around the country for the kind of wood that make Authentic Pine Floors’ products unique. The company’s manufacturing facility recycles beams and timbers into antique heart pine flooring, as well as doors, mantels and staircase parts.
