Gwinnett Innovation Park Celebrates 20 Years
ATLANTA - December 7, 2010 - Gwinnett Innovation Park, (www.gwinnettinnovationpark.com) a dynamic and affordable environment for new and growing companies, is celebrating 20 years of excellence in servicing metro-Atlanta and Gwinnett entrepreneurs and new and growing businesses. Gwinnett Innovation Park (GIP) provides an instant office and flexible space for growing companies so entrepreneurs can focus on the growth and development of their businesses.
"Over the last twenty years, Gwinnett Innovation Park has been home to more than 75 start-ups and early stage companies," said Bonnie Herron, the executive director of the Gwinnett Innovation Park. "We are proud of our impact on the Gwinnett-area business community and look forward to continuing to work with new and innovative companies on their paths to success."
GIP is sponsored by long-time technology pioneer, Intelligent Systems Corporation. As one of the most successful, privately funded incubation programs in the country, the GIP has been recognized as a top technology incubator and has been home to some 75 companies that are estimated to have created more than a 1,500 new jobs in the Gwinnett County area.
"As a small and fast growing company, we have benefited from the business expertise at Gwinnett Innovation Park, as well as the affordable and flexible space. Access to the advice and support of the Gwinnett Innovation Park executives has helped us continue to expand and attract new clients," said Deanna Anderson, vice president of client services for AquaPR. "With a team which includes multiple teleworkers, we needed a mix of professional meeting space and flexible team work space. Gwinnett Innovation Park provides us the flexibility we need with everything from small private rooms for team meetings to large conference rooms for presentations and training."
Flexibility to Grow and Succeed
GIP offers companies options that help them grow on demand. Featuring almost 140,000 square feet of office, manufacturing and warehouse space, companies can expand within the facility as their business grows, without upfront capital costs or the hassle of changing address and phone numbers or locking into a long-term lease.
Wi-Ex, a client of GIP’s incubator program and winner of the 2010 Outstanding Incubator Client award in the technology category by the National Business Incubation Association, has benefited from the support and flexibility provided by GIP. With the incubator’s help, Wi-Ex’s staff has grown from 10 employees when it entered the incubation program to more than 50 employees today.
"In addition to providing mentoring and practical business advice from experienced on-site entrepreneurs, Gwinnett Innovation Park provided flexible office and manufacturing facilities to accommodate our rapid growth, supplied IT and telecom infrastructure and made introductions from its extended business network where appropriate," said Lloyd R. Meese, Chief Executive Officer of Wi-Ex. "Having been involved with other start-ups, I can honestly say that they eliminate a lot of day-to-day hassles for early stage companies. We have been able to scale operations to keep pace with sales growth without upfront capital costs or disruptive moves, allowing us to focus on driving success."
With flexible, short-term leases, GIP allows entrepreneurs to focus on business development. In addition, GIP is also home to Gwinnett's coworking space, the Entrepreneurs Hub, designed to help entrepreneurs, business consultants, teleworkers and start-up companies focus on their business while the facility staff handles all infrastructure needs.
"As a small technology consulting firm moving from a home office to our first commercial space, the transition to the Gwinnett Innovation Park’s eHub facility has been flawless and an excellent value for us. In the short time we've been here, I've met other young technology entrepreneurs, exchanged ideas and tips and truly appreciate being in a business environment that has grown many successful firms. This has been a great decision for us", said Mark Abrams, Aspen Information Systems, Inc.
