Small Business Financing Conference Set for March 16 in Atlanta

"Bootstrapping to Success—Starting a Business With Little or No Money" is one of eight seminars teaching business financial literacy to business owners during a conference sponsored by the non-profit Small Business Finance Institute, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on March 16, 2011. This program targets small business owners and entrepreneurs--whether start-up or a 30 year-old enterprise.

The path to starting a new business is changing as rapidly as the global economy. Many former cost barriers have been broken with new ideas and new technologies. While starting up with no money might be a challenge (depending on the business), there are some real world examples of entrepreneurs building their way up with as little as $150.

This workshop will be led by an experienced entrepreneurs who have done it and mentors who have worked with hundreds of start-up businesses. Participants will take away the following information:

  • How to separate business needs from personal wants
  • How imagination can lower your hard business start-up costs
  • How to eliminate traditional start-up business costs

"Stepping Up To Business" will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. Organized by the Small Business Finance Institute (SBFI), the day-long educational event will offer an unprecedented opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn about business financing from experts in banking, finance and accounting. The full-day of education will feature seasoned speakers, workshops, resource materials, a financing panel discussion and one-on-one business counseling.

"Participants will learn best practices for presenting deals to funders with a well-written business plan, and insights into how lenders and investors evaluate a business proposal," said SBFI Executive Director Charles H. Green. "They will better understand financial statements and cash flow planning. They’ll come away with proven strategies to find funding sources, including angel investors, SBA loans, working capital lines of credit and micro loans", Green continued.

The Conference agenda, speakers, workshop descriptions and registration information are available at www.SBFI.org/registration. Registration is only $100.00, but readers of Atlanta Daybook can use discount code PTRXX and get a 50% discount on registration.
