Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation Speaker Series Examines the Future of the American Dream

Event Will Be Available Via Live Webcast, December 1, 2011

The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation Speaker Series will host a program on December 1, 2011, exploring the future of the American Dream.

The Speaker Series discussion will feature Bob Herbert, journalist and Distinguished Senior Fellow at Demos, and Deborah Bial, president and founder of The Posse Foundation. Pulitzer Prize winning historian David Garrow will moderate the discussion.

Students from several area colleges and universities will take part in the event, including students from Agnes Scott, Clark Atlanta, Emory, Georgia Tech, Morehouse, Oglethorpe and Spelman.

"The nation’s future depends on the next generation gaining full access to the American Dream," said Penelope McPhee, president of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. "A world-class education is the key that unlocks the American Dream for millions of young people."

The Blank Family Foundation will produce a live webcast of the program beginning at 6 p.m. ET. Click here for information on the webcast (or go to www.BlankFoundation.org/American-Dream). No registration is needed to view the webcast.

Seating at the live event is limited, and individuals interested in attending should contact JoAnn Ellis (JEllis@ambfo.com) to determine availability.

Through its Pathways to Success initiative, the Foundation has invested more than $16 million since 2004 in The Posse Foundation and other innovative approaches to help high school students gain access to college and career opportunities.

Since 1989, The Posse Foundation has identified, recruited and trained 3,665 public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential to become Posse Scholars. These students – many of whom might have been overlooked by traditional college selection processes – receive four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner institutions of higher education. Most important, Posse Scholars graduate at a rate of 90 percent and make a visible difference on campus and throughout their professional careers.
