U.S. Soccer Foundation Teams Up with Falcons Youth Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs

Groups Align to Bring Free Soccer Programming to Children in Underserved Areas of Atlanta

The U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Major Charitable Arm of Soccer in the United States, and the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation, a division of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, have teamed up to provide free soccer programming to children in the metro Atlanta area. The Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation will donate $250,000, over a period of five years, to the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Soccer for Success after-school youth development program. The program, which will be operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGMCA), will provide nearly 700 participants with 90 minutes of exercise, three days per week for 24 weeks.

"We thank the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation for supporting Soccer for Success programming as a way to improve the well-being of children in the metro Atlanta area," said Ed Foster-Simeon, President & CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation. "Through collaboration, we can have a significant impact on the health of children in the community through soccer programming that elicits positive physical and social development."

"Through Soccer for Success, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta enable more kids to spend more time in physical activity," said John Bare, vice president of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, of which the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation is an affiliated fund. "We are excited to have the U.S. Soccer Foundation bring this innovative program to Atlanta."

"We are thrilled to start Soccer for Success," said Eric Osborne, Director of Healthy Lifestyles for BGCMA. "This is a sport that many of our children truly enjoy, but they don’t always have access to play in an organized league. This is a great way to engage our youth in physical activity they not only enjoy but reap rewards for their health and overall development."

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta will launch its first season of Soccer for Success this fall. For more information about Soccer for Success, please visit www.ussoccerfoundation.org/soccerforsuccess.
