Susan Hitchcock Recognized by Dress for Success Atlanta

Champions for Success Breakfast, Tuesday, February 26 at Villa Christina

Susan Hitchcock will be among the distinguished honorees at Dress for Success Atlanta’s Champions for Success Breakfast on February 26, 2013

Turknett Leadership Group (TLG), a talent management company, proudly announces the recognition of Susan Hitchcock as a 2013 Champion for Success by Dress for Success Atlanta.  Former VP of Client Services and Executive Director of Women’s Initiatives and current Advisory Board Member for TLG, Hitchcock is a long-time advocate for women’s advancement. She has served on numerous non-profit boards and received awards for her leadership, mentorship, and other achievements.  

In 2003, Hitchcock created TLG’s popular Women in Leadership (WIL) seminar series which just completed its 115th consecutive monthly program.  In addition, she was instrumental in launching TLG’s prestigious annual Leadership Character Awards, now in its 10th year.  Her other activities include research, writing, and speaking on the subject of women and leadership.

Before joining TLG in 1992, Susan had a successful career with BellSouth Corporation (now AT&T) where she held a variety of leadership positions of increasing responsibility. Her career spanned a broad range of line and staff functions including network operations, strategic planning, human factors, management assessment, technical training and executive support.

This year, along with nine other distinguished honorees, Hitchcock was selected as a 2013 Dress for Success Atlanta Champion because of support for the organization’s mission and for contributions to the professional advancement of women.  The Champions of Success Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, February 26 at 8:00am at Villa Christina.   The keynote speaker for the breakfast celebration and annual fundraiser is Atlanta icon, Xernona Clayton, Founder, President & CEO, Trumpet Awards Foundation who’s also being honored as a 2013 Champion.   Emceeing the event will be Emmy-award winning Fox 5 anchor, Lisa Rayam.

The other honorees are Donna Brock, Director, Strategic Communications & University Relations, Clark Atlanta University; Ursula Burns, CEO, Xerox;  Mary Ford, Vice President, Cbeyond;  Gail Goldstein Heyman, Hygienist, Goldstein, Garber & Salama; Elizabeth Noe, Partner, Paul Hastings; Nancy Rafuse, Managing Partner Ashe Rafuse & Hill LLP; Lovette Russell, Philanthropist; and Cynthia Williams, Treasurer, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.

The Atlanta Chapter of Dress for Success is part of an international not-for-profit organization, founded in New York in 1997.  It offers services designed to help clients find jobs and remain employed. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and can return for a second suit or separates when she finds work.

The mission of Dress for Success Atlanta is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.  In 2011, the organization impacted the lives of more than 1,800 women and their 3,000 dependents.  Overall, since its inception, Dress for Success has served more than 650,000 women worldwide.
