Fabulous Friends in Philanthropy Mixer - March 13

March 13, 2013, 6:00pm-9:00pm at Gordon Biersch Midtown

Fabulous Friends in Philanthropy will host their March Mixer on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Gordon Biersch Midtown from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The event is held every other month to bring nonprofit organizations, leaders and volunteers together to network and collaborate, while raising money for their Petals in Bloom Scholarship Fund.

“We are very excited about this month’s mixer. We will be highlighting Usher's New Look Foundation, Success360, Mary Pat Hector and youthSpark, Inc. Our January mixer was a huge success. Milton Little, President of United Way of Greater Atlanta provided opening remarks and we recognized Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Atlanta, along with C.H.O.I.C.E.S. (The Center Helping Obesity in Children End Successfully)”, said Fabulous Friends in Philanthropy founder Kim M. Braud. “Everyone that attended the mixer expressed how beneficial the event was for them. We were just elated to increase the publics’ awareness of the great work being done by these organizations, while educating people about the growing issue of homelessness in our city.”

Usher’s New Look Foundation, a 501c3, established in 1999, certifies young people in four leadership pillars – talent, education, career and service – to ensure their success as leaders throughout the world. New Look’s process to certify youth as leaders was developed in partnership with Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. Since 1999, New Look has certified over 13,000 youth and provided over 300,000 hours of leadership training.

Success 360 is a Career Pathways and College Readiness program designed to assist students with their post secondary education options and to provide exposure to career opportunities that match their passions. High School students gain the necessary tools and 21st century skill sets to develop as global leaders, excel in their college pursuits and organize an efficient plan to prosper and thrive in their chosen career industry.

Mary Pat Hector is the National Youth Director for the National Action Network. She is also an author, speaker, playwright and community activist. Founder of Youth in Action, she is partnering with her peers to solve issues in the community, one project at a time. In addition to being the Youth Leader of Usher’s New Look Foundation, Ms. Hector delivers keynote presentations across the country, calling for teen activism. She will be autographing her new book Thinking Out Loud at the mixer.

For over a decade, youthSpark, Inc. (formerly known as the Juvenile Justice Fund) has transformed the lives of children who have been exploited, abused, or neglected. Based at Fulton County Juvenile Court, youthSpark works collaboratively toward systemic change. youthSpark pioneered the movement to end child sex trafficking in Georgia and is a nationally recognized as a thought leader, providing support and advice to similar programs around the country.

The Philanthropy Mixer will be held every other month in Atlanta, Georgia. Each mixer will highlight local nonprofit organizations. The $10 suggested donation collected at the door will benefit the Fabulous Friends in Philanthropy Petals in Bloom Scholarship Fund for homeless girls. If you are aware of a homeless girl that would benefit from our scholarship, please visit our web site for additional information.  Petals in Bloom Scholarship Application

Upcoming mixer dates for 2013 are April 17, May 8 and July 10. We also offer vendor opportunities. In addition to our featured organizations, our vendors for March will include Sweet Surrender Fudge and The Raphael Baker Agency.
