Event Will Be Available Via Live Webcast, February 26, 2014 (6 p.m. ET)
The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation Speaker Series today announced it will host a program on youth sports safety on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 6 p.m. The program will be held at The Arthur M. Blank Family Office in Atlanta.
The Speaker Series program, "Making Play Safe for Kids" will feature Kate Carr, president & CEO of Safe Kids Worldwide, Alexis Glick, CEO of GENYOUth Foundation, and Dr. David Satcher, former U.S. Surgeon General and chairman of the National Council on Youth Sports Safety. Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN chief medical correspondent, will moderate the program.
Basketball, soccer, cheerleading, football and other organized youth sports draw tens of millions of players a year. Millions more are riding bicycles, swimming, snowboarding and playing in front yards or playgrounds.
The benefits of play are extraordinary. Kids who are more active in play tend to be healthier, stronger leaders who perform better in school. To ensure that kids derive the greatest benefits from play, it’s critical that parents, youth organizations, trainers and doctors understand and manage potential risks, from head injuries to overuse injuries to dehydration.
The Blank Family Foundation will produce a live webcast of the Speaker Series event beginning at 6 p.m. ET. Click here for information on the webcast (or go to http://blankfoundation.org/play-safe). No registration is needed to view the webcast. Participants may also join the live Twitter chat via #playsafe.
Seating at the event is limited, and individuals interested in attending should contact JoAnn Ellis (JEllis@ambfo.com) to determine availability.
