Starting a Business from Scratch Isn't the Only Path to Entrepreneurship

Full day program focuses on how to buy a business for a start-up or grow existing business

Starting a business from scratch isn’t the only path to entrepreneurship – a rapidly growing trend is entrepreneurship through acquisition. It’s also an alternative way to grow an existing business.

On Tuesday, April 25 at the KSU Center, The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center at Kennesaw State University (UGA SBDC at KSU) is hosting the Entrepreneurship through Acquisition (ETA) program, featuring acquisition professionals and entrepreneurs who have successfully acquired a company. Designed for those who want to start a business or grow an existing one, this program will demonstrate that buying a business is an exciting path to entrepreneurship and it can be far less risky and easier to finance than starting one.

Topics include:

  • the search process
  • assessing and valuing targets
  • dealing with sellers
  • financing the deal
  • due diligence
  • post-acquisition issues
  • franchising: an alternative path to ETA
  • what to expect the first 100 days

  • Brian McBroom, CEO, SE Ellis Enterprises
  • Valerie Cansler, CEO, PVR Research
