Position Description Title: 
Senior Director of Marketing and Community Relations
Marketing and Communications/Full-Time, Exempt


The Senior Director of Marketing and Community Relations will be responsible for managing all aspects of marketing, branding, public relations and community relations for the Chattahoochee Nature Center, developing strategic marketing plans and managing the marketing and public relations activities focused on advancing the objectives of the Nature Center to support the overall strategic goals. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Executive Director. This position includes company paid vacation and personal time; health insurance package and 401K within 6 months.

Responsibilities and Duties

Marketing
Provides marketing leadership and management aligned with organizational mission and core values of the Center. Manages marketing team and the overall development and implementation of the marketing and community relations strategy. Duties include oversight of all marketing and community relations activities, development and execution of comprehensive marketing vision and strategy to ensure consistency, brand awareness and growth, including:

  • Create marketing strategies that directly impact the growth of general admission to CNC as well as attendance to special events and festivals
  • Marketing and media plan development and implementation
  • Direct marketing and ongoing communications with key groups
  • Public and media relations
  • Community and government relations
  • Digital, Social and SEM Marketing
  • Measure appropriate metrics to monitor success such as increased visitation to CNC=

In addition, the position would have close coordination with Operations staff to integrate all CNC programs and services, including:

  • Education
  • Community Programs
  • Camp
  • Development
  • Operations
  • Wildlife


Community Relations:
Create and implement a comprehensive community and public relations strategy targeting the media, community and government leaders, civic organizations and businesses in the community to build brand awareness and increase the visibility and support of the CNC programs.

Development and Volunteer Support:
Spearhead the creation, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes. Collaborate with membership, development, camp and volunteer teams to leverage opportunities to increase development and revenue building opportunities.

Collaborate with management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Ability to plan and manage marketing and community relations activities at both the strategic and operational levels. Detail oriented team player with Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field.
  • Experience in creating an annual marketing department budget with limited resources along with the ability to track and measure results.
  • Track record of developing and implementing successful marketing, advertising, public relations, communications and overall branding strategies.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, public relations, community relations, preferably within a non-profit organization.
  • Experience in developing and managing a marketing team.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with a focus on detail.
  • Ability to present in a convincing and professional manner and develop cooperative working relationships with staff, volunteers, Board members and community leaders.
  • Technical skills and knowledge of new media and web-based communications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility with hours that will include evening and weekend events, shifting priorities; comfort with ambiguity, tight timelines and conflicting priorities.
