Handcrafted Homes, Inc. Wins Gold OBIE from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association

ROSWELL, GA -- Handcrafted Homes, Inc. (www.handcraftedhomes-inc.com), has won a 2017 Gold OBIE Award presented by the Sales and Marketing Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHB, www.atlantahomebuilders.com).  The residential construction and remodeling company received the award for Best Specialty Room for the remodel of a lakefront family room in Brookhaven.  The annual OBIE Awards, which began in 1980, are the premier awards given in Atlanta to recognize outstanding achievement in new home building, home remodeling, marketing and personal achievement.  Last year Judy Mozen, president of Handcrafted Homes, Inc., won the association’s first-ever “Remodeler of the Year” OBIE Award for her 40+ years of providing exemplary custom home design, construction and remodeling services to homeowners throughout metro Atlanta and the north Georgia mountains.

Best Specialty Room nominated projects were judged on creativity, aesthetics and market value.  The judges also reviewed cost effectiveness, special design features and how well the clients’ objectives were met.  Handcrafted Homes, Inc.’s winning entry included structural improvements, new roofline, flooring, lighting, HVAC, windows and fireplace to enhance the beauty and function of the room, as well as to better showcase the lakefront views.

“This was a challenging project with a beautiful result,” said Mozen.  “Early on, we discovered there were structural deficiencies in the floor, ceiling and roof.  Obviously, we needed to address these issues before we could begin enhancing the beauty and function of the space.  Another challenge was the family remained in the home during the entire remodeling project.  They are thrilled with the result, and are especially pleased with the new, remote-controlled natural gas fireplace and statement chandelier.  The custom hearth is cantilevered on three sides and covered with marble to create a modern, dramatic focal point apart from the sweeping views of Silver Lake, now visible through the tall windows.”

The OBIE Awards, named after the obelisk shape of the actual award given, are announced every November by the Sales and Marketing Council of the HBA.  According to the GAHB, OBIE Award recipients stand out among their peers and are recognized for their outstanding achievements.
