Atlanta Habitat hosts inaugural "Welcome to Our Neighborhood Gala"

with presenting sponsor The Home Depot Foundation February 24

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, with presenting sponsor The Home Depot Foundation, and gala hosts Clark and Lane Howard, presents Welcome to Our Neighborhood, an inaugural fundraising gala that celebrates Atlanta Habitat’s 35 years of empowering families through homeownership and rebuilding neighborhoods, block-by-block. The festive, cocktail-attire event is 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at Flourish Atlanta in Buckhead.

When guests arrive, they will be welcomed to a digital neighborhood that displays the impact Atlanta Habitat and its donors have on Atlanta families before they enter the stunning Flourish ballroom for dinner, live auction and entertainment.

“Atlanta Habitat is this city’s largest nonprofit homebuilder and my favorite! I’m thrilled to join this celebration and to support its expanded mission to do even more to help families realize the dream of homeownership and to revitalize neighborhoods,” says nationally syndicated talk show host, Clark Howard, who has been an Atlanta Habitat volunteer for 25 years this year.

In addition to The Home Depot Foundation as the Neighborhood Champion presenting sponsor, Atlanta Habitat also thanks its Power Builder sponsors, Sherry and David Abney, The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, BNY Mellon, Cox Enterprises Inc., Delta Air Lines, Georgia-Pacific and Novelis.

“This gala is our first fundraising effort that directly supports our new initiatives—from home building, critical repairs to scholarships—that empower homeowners and neighborhoods,” says Lisa Y. Gordon, Atlanta Habitat President and CEO. “We are grateful for the amazing support of our sponsors who are helping us to celebrate our success and to bring others on board to partner with us.”

Atlanta Habitat expanded its mission in 2016 to be a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization through education, partnerships, and by developing long-term relationships with families that go beyond the build. Each time a family becomes an Atlanta Habitat homeowner, they establish stability for their families to achieve other dreams. Last year, Atlanta Habitat empowered 123 families, the largest in the organization’s history, through homeownership and critical home repairs. It makes an annual $6 million economic investment in Atlanta.
