Rise Up! 159 Flag Football Grant Program Announces Awards to GA Schools and Organizations

The Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation, The Georgia Foundation for Public Health and the Governor’s Georgia Shape initiative, are proud to announce that 11 grants totaling over $70,000 have been awarded to Georgia schools and organizations through the first round of the Rise Up! 159 Flag Football Grant Program.
The Rise Up! 159 Initiative, a two-year grant program, will help youth serving organizations and schools enhance existing or start new NFL Flag Football programs across the state. The Falcons and Georgia Shape are especially interested in programs that increase participation among girls and children with physical disabilities. NFL Flag Football is open to all boys and girls ages 6 to 14.

Schools and organizations can apply for up to $10,000 to assist with NFL Flag Football program registration fees, providing healthy and nutritious snacks to participants, purchasing equipment and supplies, covering transportation costs and field rental fees.
Rich McKay, the Falcons President and CEO states that “Flag football is a great entry way into growing our game for boys and girls. We hope these grants give the schools and organizations the necessary tools that allow more kids the opportunity to play.”

A second round of grants will become available through the Rise Up! 159 Flag Football Grant Program towards the end of 2018.

The Rise Up! 159 Flag Football Grant Program would like to congratulate all of its first round grantees:
