TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Statewide travel - up to 10 days per month
The Vice President, Program Development & Innovation is a newly-created position with responsibility for conceptualizing and delivering powerful leadership development services in pursuit of GLISI’s mission. This high visibility role is a tremendous opportunity for a skilled thought leader with exceptional ability to craft, articulate, and implement leader development innovations that transform mindsets and leader practice.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with 10 or more years’ experience leading a high-performing organization; a disposition toward innovation; deep knowledge of adult learning theory, leadership development, and school improvement; skills to lead continuous improvement; and a successful track record of designing and delivering research-based transformative adult learning experiences at scale. This is a critical senior leader role in the organization, reporting to the Executive Director and serving as part of
GLISI’s executive team.
Purpose: The VP, Program Development & Innovation is the executive responsible for powering our impact and driving the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of our district-facing services to the highest caliber. In an organization whose primary lever for realizing our mission is leadership development, the VP, Program Development & Innovation leads by architecting and overseeing implementation of powerful experiences informed by research in adult learning and leadership.

Oversee design and delivery of all GLISI’s programs and services:
  • Continuously update GLISI playbook by refining and testing theories of action that drive execution of all services
  • Use PLC processes for internal cross-team observation and learning that contributes to individual and organizational learning
  • Conceptualize design of services using evaluator’s mindset and tools such as logic models to make visible the assumptions about how the service will yield intended results
  • Identify promising product and service add-ons or innovations, leading a disciplined product development process to test and refine impactful services
  • Develop and engage team in utilizing a professional lexicon that guides monitoring and performance of GLISI’s services, essential levers, and impact
  • Lead a transparent internal continuous improvement process that “walks the talk” of improvement science
  • Provide coaching or facilitation of adult learning, as needed
Organize and support staff and contractors optimally to deliver transformative leadership development services with fidelity to design:
  • Act as an internal and external partnership builder, leveraging individual strengths to achieve organizational/shared objectives in pursuit of GLISI’s mission
  • Support staff and contractor growth to continuously improve practice of leadership development
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential candidates to serve as GLISI contractors
Serve as an external ambassador for GLISI’s services:
  • Deepen existing and foster new relationships with school district leaders, strategic allies, and thought leaders in the field of education leadership
  • Serve on ad hoc seasonal business development team 2-3 times annually to liaise with district leaders to connect districts in need with appropriate GLISI services
Act as an internal ambassador to full GLISI team about emergent lessons and promising innovations:
  • Collaborate with operations team
  • Collaborate with communications staff around all external messaging, promoting success stories from GLISI’s work in the field
  • Successful experience as a school principal or central office leader in a high-performing setting
  • Portfolio of successful leadership development designs executed with clear measures of impact that led to sustained leader behavior change and shift in school culture or practice
  • Strength in utilizing technology for adult learning and interpersonal communications
  • Strong mastery of research base on impact of leadership on student achievement, culture, teacher performance;
  • Practical familiarity with school improvement process at school and district levels
  • Deep insight around organizational psychology and leadership
  • Familiarity with GLISI’s suite of services
  • Adept team building, project planning, and management skills
  • Keen ability to distill and diagnose challenges among leaders and schools based on observations and interviews
