"4 Questions Journalist Spotlight" on Eli Zandman, Tomorrow's News Today - Atlanta

Leff's Atlanta Media's Weekly Feature Conversation with an Atlanta Journalist

Each week, in partnership with Leff’s Atlanta Media (www.leffsatlantamedia.com), Atlanta Daybook presents our "Journalist Spotlight." Atlanta public relations professional Mitch Leff of Leff & Associates offers a conversation with a journalist in the Atlanta market, asking them four questions that'll help you learn more about local Atlanta media. What makes them tick? What's new at their media outlet? What drives them?

Mitch operates Leff’s Atlanta Media (http://www.leffsatlantamedia.com) an online database with contact info for thousands of Atlanta-based journalists, and Mitch’s Media Match (www.mitchsmediamatch.com), a service that connects Atlanta journalists with local experts.

The Spotlight Shines on Eli Zandman, Tomorrow’s News Today - Atlanta!

Eli Zandman is the founder and editor of Tomorrow’s News Today - Atlanta (ToNeTo), a website/blog focused on the retail, restaurant, hotel, real estate, and banking scene. He’s been covering his beat in Atlanta for more than ten years and you’ll find his content shared across digital and social media channels.

Here are a few recent stories to give you a taste of his work. In the last few weeks he’s covered: The closing of Au Bon Pain restaurant in Peachtree Center, Lidl opening three Atlanta stores, a new movie theater opening in Brookhaven, and a wine retailer opening shop near Chastain Park.

So if you’re involved in any of these industries, you want to have Eli on your distribution list!

What kind of story or segment makes you proud?

I'm most proud of being a journalist and the work I do with Tomorrow's News Today - Atlanta when I receive emails from readers and neighbors who appreciate the work I do. I feel like they value the time I take to cover news oftentimes ignored or overlooked by traditional media.

What’s new and different about what you’re doing?

I have not reinvented the wheel at ToNeTo Atlanta, but I think I do hyperlocal extraordinarily well. Metro Atlanta is always changing, and I do my best to cover the stories our readers are most likely to relate to and have interest in.

The site has been around for over ten years now and my readership continues to grow each year as more and more neighbors, industry people and prospective business owners discover my original content. Unlike other similar sites that rely on press releases for a significant portion of their content, I have developed sources throughout the city which allows us to cover news better, faster and in greater detail than others.

What’s the best and worst thing about your job?

The best thing about ToNeTo Atlanta is the rush of excitement that comes when you put all the pieces together and deliver a compelling, exciting and often exclusive report on something opening in metro Atlanta. Conversely, the worst part is when I have little positive news to report and are instead reporting on closings, sometimes of longstanding Atlanta establishments.

What’s the coolest thing people should know about you?

The coolest thing people should know about me is that when I was hired at the InterContinental Hotel Buckhead in 2008, I was the youngest concierge at a Five Diamond hotel in the country
